ONLINE TITLE AND REGISTRATION SERVICES FOR DEALERSHIP PURCHASES- CLICK HERE!
AVOID WAITING IN LINE, AND RECEIVE YOUR PLATES AND REGISTRATION IN THE MAIL!
Office Hours:
Bozeman Office is open to the public from 8 AM to 5 PM
Belgrade Office will be open to the public from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Last title transaction is taken 1/2 hour before closing.
Both offices are open Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays.
NEITHER OF OUR OFFICES ISSUE DRIVERS LICENSES. NO REALLY. WE DON'T.
Avoid a wasted trip: contact your dealer, lender, etc., before you come into our offices to confirm that your paperwork has been delivered before you come wait in line!
(Pro tip: get a tracking number, if it's coming from out of state!)
WAITING FOR US TO CONTACT YOU?
POST CARDS: We stopped sending postcards out several years ago. You do not have to wait to receive a card from us in the mail- please contact your dealership/lender, etc. to find out if your paperwork has been delivered to our offices.
PHONE CALLS: We are receiving 500+ phone messages a week and do not have the staffing to return them all. We advise you to email us instead at mv@gallatin.mt.gov (ONLY IF you cannot find the answer to your question on this site). If you have a general vehicle services question, you can also email mvdtitleinfo@mt.gov.
EMAILS: We answer emails as often and as quickly as we can, given our limited staffing. Questions about recent purchases can often be answered by your dealership's title department.
MOVING FROM OUT-OF-STATE?
We're happy to help and we know things are different here, so please review the information on the top left side of this page before coming in. Yes, we require the actual title. No, we cannot accept electronic titles. Yes, you have to provide proof of residency (see link to the left). No, the same rules don't apply from state to state. No, we don't know why. Honestly, it's not up to us. Help us help you. :)
