Road & Bridge Department

Information:
The Gallatin County Road and Bridge Department is located at 205 Baxter Lane West, west of Jackrabbit Lane, 2 miles north of Four Corners.

The Gallatin County Road and Bridge Department does not allow work in the County-maintained road rights-of-way during the winter. No work will be allowed after October 31 except for approved emergency repairs - and the closure is effective until spring thaw. The spring start-up date is weather dependent.

Please contact the Road Office for more information.

The Gallatin County Road and Bridge Department installs 16-ton weight limits on various roads during the spring and early summer months to preserve the integrity of roads that are at risk of serious damage or destruction.  If you are considering a construction project, please plan accordingly.  Gallatin County may grant overweight exemptions on a case by case basis for non-reducible loads; no exemptions will be granted for reducible loads.  Submit a completed Weight Exemption Request to the Road and Bridge Department office.

Please be aware that requests for overweight exemptions may take several days to process, and approval is not automatic or guaranteed. You may contact this office for more information.

Please contact us at (406)582-3250 or [email protected] if you wish to receive emails regarding updated weight limits.
