RENEWAL STATUS - ONLINE: I paid for my renewal online but haven't received my tabs. Where are they?
PLEASE NOTE: When you are paying for your renewal online through the State's website, their system will not allow you to update your address. Many people assume that's what they are doing when they enter their credit/debit card information. Unfortunately, that's not the case.
However, your address can be updated as a separate transaction at this website, and you can then renew your registration.
The good news is that once you pay online, your registration is automatically updated in Montana's law enforcement database.
If you renewed your vehicle registration online and you did not receive your tabs in the mail, it's likely because you moved and we don't have your new address, and chances are they were returned to us. If you know the people who may have received your renewals, please contact them first. If not, you can send us an email at [email protected], with your name, the last 6 digits of your VIN, your plate number, the date you paid for your renewal, and your address. If it was returned, we can resend it to your current address. If not, and you didn't change your address with us, then you'll have to pay the replacement fee.
If you haven't moved and still didn't receive your tabs, you should also email us at [email protected] and include your name, the last 8 digits of your VIN, your plate number, the date you paid for your renewal, and your address. We'll check our returned mail just in case, and if we don't have them in office, you may have to contact the Postal Service.
